Discover what your backyard has to offer! Lets help reduce emissions and fuel the local economy! We have 5 trips planned that will explore the outdoor world within a 40 mile radius of campus. With trips being this close, you will discover that New Jersey has a lot more to offer than meets the eye.
Bike through your own backyard! September 15th 4-6pm BASE CAMP Did you know that there is a nature preserve right here on campus, that it literally runs right along the Livingston Campus? Take a tour of the preserve on our very own mountain bikes. If you enjoy it enough, you can always come in and rent a bike to tackle another ride on your own.
Perch & Paddle September 16th 4-6:30pm BASE CAMP “Created by damming the Passaic River, this long, narrow lake is bordered on both sides by county parklands, where hiking trails meander through landscaped trees and shrubs.” This beautiful lake is only 10 miles away from the Livingston Recreation Center and less than 6 miles from the Cook/Douglass Recreation Center.
Tramp, Track & Trek the Sourlands! September 17th 4-7pm BASE CAMP The Sourland Mountain Preserve is another local destination, less than 20 miles from Campus. This preserve offers a variety of paths for exploration and adventure. We will explore one of the Preserves many loops.
Bring your long board to Long Branch! September 18th 12-6:30pm BASE CAMP The summer is not over yet! With hurricane season upon us, who knows what types of waves we will be facing. Beginners, intermediates, expert surfers come along, if you have a board bring it, if not we have some we can provide. Long Branch, NJ is only 40 miles from campus!
