METABOLIC TESTING
Metabolic Testing is offered at the Rutgers Tech Gym & Spa at Rockoff Hall with a simple breathing device. Testing is noninvasive and takes 10-15 minutes.  After completing the test, a trained clinician will discuss the results and determine a daily caloric range specific for you, to help you acheive your weight goals.  Included in Metabolic Testing is a 3 month access to Vitabot, our online nutritional counseling site, to help you track your eating patterns.

•  Each appointment takes 45-60 minutes to complete.
•  Individuals cannot eat, drink, smoke or exercise for 4 hours prior to the appointment.
•  The cost is $25 for students and $45 for F/S and members.
•  To make an appointment please call (732 932-1442) or stop by at the front desk of the Rutgers Tech Gym & Spa or contact Anne Finetto at acarlson@rci.rutgers.edu.

WHY DO I NEED TO KNOW MY  METABOLIC RATE?  Your metabolic rate is how many calories your body burns in a day-how fast your body uses energy.  In order to manage your weight, you need to have an energy balance. When food is absorbed into your body, it must either be burned as energy or stored as fat. Calories is how the energy in the food we eat and the energy our body uses, is measured.   The trick is to balance the calories you eat with the energy needs of your metabolism. Measuring your metabolic rate is how we determine the correct number of calories for your body, or rather for your metabolism.   Knowing your metabolic rate helps you to balance what you eat with what you burn.
