Rutgers Recreation is a full service recreation department offering instructional classes, personal training, fitness assessments, intramurals, club sports, aquatics programming, outdoor recreation activities, leadership training, team building and special events.
Rutgers Recreation also manages 4 large recreation centers, 2 free standing fitness centers and 20 acres of outdoor space all of which are located within a short walking distance from the residential areas on campus. An Olympic size pool with a diving tower, an 80 foot climbing wall, 3 indoor tennis courts, racquetball courts, a ropes challenge course, a large picnic pavilion and a roller hockey rink are just a few of the outstanding features you will find in the facility inventory.
The facilities are open 7 days a week, 50 weeks of the year. Memberships are available for UMDNJ faculty and staff, alumni and spouses of alumni, students, faculty and staff. Members are welcome to bring guests. Equipment is available for loan to members as well.
Family and public programming is a special feature of many of the departments. Children’s lessons are available in swimming, climbing, tennis, jujitsu and fitness. Birthday parties can be scheduled for children in any of these areas. Facilities can also be reserved for project graduations, tournaments, family picnics and special events.
